Persuasion is a task as complicated as Sanju’s personality and Rajkumar Hirani has deciphered it to perfection. Go watch Ranbir in all glory as he tries to do an alchemy of sorts with an impeccable portrayal and powerful persuasion on our views about Sanju
Any Biographical film is an attempt at comprehensively telling a single person’s life story. With a character like Sanjay Dutt it’s an arduous task to transition his life to the silver screen owing to the following reasons :
1. A rich tapestry of convolutions that’s sensitive at the same time very poignant.
2. Perception of the audience that might be difficult to change
Cometh the hour and cometh the duo Ranbir Kapoor & Rajkumar Hirani. Thanks to their master class they have not only passed with flying colours but also ensure the audience leave with a doubt hanging in the mind. “Sanjay Dutt???” Is he good or bad in the typical Nayagan style 😉🤓 Worst case at least they kick-start the introspection process that might lead them to the above question. That I believe is the real success of the movie. Persuasion is a task as complicated as Sanju’s personality and Rajkumar Hirani has deciphered it to perfection.
First things first Ranbir Kapoor – RK one herculean performance from him and this movie ought to give him loads of confidence for the way ahead. This is one movie that will be etched evergreen not only in his fans but each and everyone who watches the movie. This ought to upgrade him to “Heavyweight” status when it comes to acting. He has totally immersed himself in the shoes of Sanjay Dutt and brings him in front of audience both physically and mentally. What stands out are the mannerisms, conflicting & convoluting emotions, strides that have been portrayed with crystal clear perfection by Ranbir.
It may sound herculean but the mammoth of an actor in him & his conviction helps Ranbir pass the test in flying colours. Just like the four divisions of the year Sanju’s rise and downfall over the course of his years see him portraying various emotions in various shades and Ranbir has aced them all.
Rajkumar hirani has managed to the entice yet persuade the audience yet again. He has also ensured the presence of ubiquitous humour as well. The Central Crux is focussed well at the same time moving the story around other characters such as Sunil Dutt, Kamlesh, Manyata, Winnie, Zubin and Ruby.
The initial conundrum and the subsequent bonding between Sanju and his father has been shown really well. A moving performance from Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt and leaves a great impact in the audience. Vicky Kaushal as kamli gives an impeccable performance and bolsters the movie. He has a big role to play in the impact that gets created with the audience.
Excellent supporting performances from Manisha, Sonam, Dia Mirza as well. Ravi Varman’s cinematography augments the impact quotient of the movie and is such a big strength to the movie.
Warm applause to the make up Crew as well. Editing and music too support the movie well. The movie has once again been scripted to perfection by Rajkumar the Impeccable.
Moving to the other side of the coin I would have definitely loved to see more screen time about the special bond between Sanju and his mom Narghis. Some other pivotal characters too have been missed that rises a few questions.
To sum it up Sanju is an excellent attempt at giving a different perspective into the man called Sanju and his many lives. Go watch Ranbir in all glory as he tries to do an alchemy of sorts with an impeccable portrayal and powerful persuasion on our views about Sanju. I am going with 4/5 for this movie. #Sanju #RanbironFullSong #RangasReview
