The closing lines of the poem “The Road not taken” by Robert Frost is so apt for this movie. Karthik Naren has managed to take that less travelled route and that has made all the difference. He manages to leave the audience in a maze characterized by some Stupendous screenplay, Engrossing Narration & last but not least out of the box characterization. At the end as we come out of the maze the audience are left spell bound in terms of the entertainment value 🙂 This is one thriller thats not to be missed. 🙂 This guy is definitely in for the long run.
As I watched this movie I got reminded more of the game Jenga( I got to know courtesy The Big Bang Theory). Just like the game’s objective the director Karthik Naren manages to spring a surprise or twist time & again throughout the movie at the same time ensuring the balance of the movie as a whole. Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru – D16 is more of a experiment that has yielded very successful results. Kudos to the makers for financially backing such a movie.
What makes this movie click is its flamboyant narration backed up by some amazing screen play that keeps the audience enthralled in terms of the entertainment value. We are also floored by the element to which the twists are closely centered on the simple concept of perception. I got reminded of a similar movie Nenokkadine. Unlike Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru it did not get a good reception. Having said that, For a new comer the decision to go sans the comedy nor songs is a big gamble. In this case it has paid off successfully for the director & his team.
Music by Jakes Bejoy wonderfully augments the thrill quotient of the movie further. As for the cast veteran Rahman leads the way with a fabulous performance & the rest of the crew plays its part to perfection. This movie I believe is clear testimony to this guy’s potential and what he is capable of. The director is here to stay. The happiness is doublefold since he is from my own Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This is one thriller that entertains us to the fullest(frame by frame).
Do watch in case you are yet to do. There can’t be a better Start to 2017. #RangasReview, #Dhuruvangalpadhinaru
