A majority of the movies are made to entertain but only a very few are made for the audience to introspect. Dear Zindagi is one such rare movie that falls in the second category. If you are expecting an entertaining movie to forget your work blues temporarily this movie is certainly not your cup of tea. Dear Zindagi is out & out for the Authentic Dear Cinema lovers!!!

A majority of the movies are made to entertain but only a very few are made for the audience to introspect. Dear Zindagi is one such rare movie that falls in the second category. Gauri Shinde is back with yet another drama film with an emotional overdose. If it was all about Shashi wonderfully enacted by Sridevi in English Vinglish, this time its all about Kaira so convincingly portrayed by Alia Bhatt. Playing the second fiddle to Alia is Shah Rukh Khan as Dr ‘Jug’. Nevertheless an impactful & moving performance from King Khan. Hats off to him for having agreed to play such a character & carrying it off so well. As Dr jug says during the fag end of the movie “”Don’t let the past blackmail your present to ruin a beautiful future”. This statement pretty much sums up the story line of the movie. I loved the way in which the movie portrays certain values in life not based on boring gyans but rather in an interesting manner. Its all about perception & how we receive & that has been well brought out. The sessions between Dr Jug & Kaira standout in this aspect. The meaningful metaphors including the likes of Dr Jug fixing cycles, trying different chairs, beach makes the approach very enticing. The pace of the movie is quite slow as demanded by the story. In English Vinglish whenever the character Shashi faced a agonizing situation the audience too were moved, when she was glad & happy so too were the audience. The climax especially moved the audience. That sort of magical connect is missing between Kaira & the audience in this movie. Kaira’s innumerable tantrums go out of the limits & tests the patience of the audience. By the time the main reason is brought, alas its a bit too late. This might be the reason for the disappointment of numerous fans. I would certainly recommend this movie for the scintillating performances by Alia Bhat & Shahrukh Khan & Gauri’s very own style. If you are expecting an entertaining movie to forget your work blues temporarily this movie is certainly not your cup of tea. Dear Zindagi is out & out for the Authentic Dear Cinema lovers!!! #Rangasreview
